There was a sale at Fabricland. That’s the only real justification for all the felt I bought. so in an attempt to deplete my abundant stock I’ve started making felt crowns.
I love dress up costumes for kids. I remember having a trunk full of costumes as a kid and they are just great for inspiring imaginative play. So with a simple pattern that I cut out of some old pop cases and my sewing machine I created this crown. I cut out the pattern twice, sewed them together on my sewing machine and used some scrap elastic to join the ends. This way it can stretch out to fit anyone’s head. I find that it’s pretty ridged though I may go and buy a can of spray starch in the future to make it more so.
This was a quick and easy project to do, you could turn them into birthday crowns or decorate them with glitter and rhinestones the possibilities are really endless.
Here’s a link to a bunch of different crown ideas.
I figure its never to early to start creating dress up costumes for my little guy. Plus it gets rid of all this felt!
