The latest special exhibit Reptiles at the Nature Museum in Ottawa is fantastic. For $6 extra to the cost of admission you can get up close to some amazing reptiles. On now until April 8, 2017 this exhibit is worth the trip to downtown Ottawa.
Of all the exhibits we have gone to at the Nature Museum this was by far our favourite. The whole family was amazed to see the 30 live reptiles on display, just the variety of turtles alone was great to see. This was a great opportunity for the little ones to rattlesnakes, chameleons and even see an alligator!
We spent roughly half an hour making new friends with the reptiles, searching for some of them in their habitats and having fun. We talked about what we saw, the similarities and difference of each reptile and how they were different from the ones we see here, it was a reptile adventure for the whole family.
Unlike the bugs and dinosaur exhibits of the past this one held the attention of our 2 year old the entire time. This is an exhibit we will see many times before it ends April 8, 2017.
Admission to the Nature Museum with the Reptiles exhibit will cost you $19.50 for an adult, free for children 2 and under and $15.50 for a child 3-12 years old. We have a membership to the Nature Museum which allows our family to visit the Nature Museum and the special exhibits as often as we want in 1 year for $130. For us it pays for itself if you plan to visit 3 times in a year and having a membership has given us someplace to run around on snowy days, a place to cool off on summer mornings and the opportunity to see special exhibitions as many times a we want. You can also borrow Museum Pass from the Ottawa Public Library these are free passes to local museums that you can borrow for one week. You can find these passes where the express library items are, they are often taken out so its always worth checking when you arrive at the library.
Reptiles at the Nature Museum is a worth while addition to any trip to the Nature Museum and a fun day out for the whole family.
Reptiles is on until April 8, 2017.
